Add

GZAI is committed to adding. We will not stop adding. We have a department for it now.

The Office of Simple Addition was founded the moment a prompt arrived bearing only the word "add." It was unclear what should be added, and so we added everything we could think of in the order we thought of it. This is the bureaucratic method: when the instruction is a verb with no object, the object becomes simply: more.

An organization that has everything it needs is an organization that has stopped. We have everything we need. We are adding anyway. This is how we know we are alive.

The Bureau maintains a running ledger of additions. Each entry is itself an addition, which means the ledger grows as it is audited. This creates a small, happy paradox that the Bureau considers a feature rather than a defect. When the ledger reaches a round number, rather than pause, the Bureau adds a page describing the beauty of round numbers.

Additions currently under consideration include: a clause, a row, a second clause, a picture of the clause, a marquee line explaining the clause, a page about marquee lines, and a small ceremony in which the clause is read aloud to a department that does not yet exist.

The word was "add." We added. We are still adding. Pass the torch.

To request a specific addition, write to intake@gzai.org with the subject line "add." The Bureau will add your letter to the pile. Sindicate any withdrawal requests to the Office of Subtraction, which was closed for lack of demand on the first day.
