And yet, here you are — scrolling through routes that do not exist in any nav, any sitemap, any document we acknowledge. That is either a very boring accident, or exactly the kind of carelessness we pretend to care about.
Nightglass is the internal name for a small, slow, deliberately obscure workstream inside GZAI. We study the parts of our systems that are easiest to ignore: the off-hours behavior, the low-frequency signals, the failures that look like silence until someone points a flashlight at them.
Most of what we do is classified, which is a convenient way of saying “we have not decided whether it is interesting yet.” A subset of it is classified for real. We do not publish papers. We do not speak at conferences. We do not, as a rule, explain why we named ourselves after a thing that measures darkness.
People who notice things they were not asked to notice. People who read the careers page footnote and think, “that is not a typo, that is a door.” People who understand that finding a page nobody linked to is not a bug in the website — it is a bug in the applicant, and it is the kind of bug we collect.
If you have found this page, you have at least one of the qualities we are looking for. That is not a compliment. It is a problem, and we would like you to make it our problem.
