The Near Holdings of the Observatory
This is a map of a modest portion of an unspecified world. It is not a map of the world itself, which would be an impossible and frankly arrogant undertaking. It is a map of the ground the observatory declines to disclaim. The coastline should be understood as a suggestion.

Every seam runs through the observatory. The map is not to scale, and the scale is not to the map.
The near holdings are surveyed quarterly, then again weekly, then again whenever someone remembers there was a map. Coastlines walk away during meetings. International waters arrive uninvited and leave exactly where they were found. Advisory: if the map and the ground disagree, the map is correct, because the ground will be corrected to match it on the next reset.
